Kawasaki's rollout of the all-new Vulcan 1700 V-twin range is now complete, with the Nomad and Voyager ABS - Japan's first full dress V-twin tourer -- joining the Classic.
Like the Classic, released just a few weeks ago (here), the Nomad features a six-speed transmission and an electronic throttle valve system. In concert with its open road brief, there is also electronic cruise control, an adjustable windscreen, hard, lockable 38-litre panniers, front and rear guards, passenger floorboards, and a passenger backrest.
The Nomad is tuned to deliver maximum torque and power at a slightly higher than the Classic, as is also the case with the Voyager ABS.
Even in overdrive, Kawasaki claims the engine pulls strongly at 100km/h, facilitating overtaking at highway speeds.
Available in Metallic Diablo Black, the Vulcan 1700 Nomad costs $22,499 (plus ORC),
As a flagship model, the $25,499 (plus ORC) Voyager ABS is equipped with a number of new systems and many Kawasaki firsts, such as Kawasaki Advanced Coactive-braking Technology (K-ACT), while cruise control, multi-function instrumentation and an audio system (compatible with iPod) are also standard equipment. It also has ETV.
A large front cowling and windscreen protect the rider and passenger from wind and the elements, with the cowling mounted to the frame so that any wind buffeting is transferred to the chassis rather than the handlebars, contributing to reduced rider fatigue on long trips.
There is a 50-litre lockable trunk that is large enough to fit two full face helmets, while top opening panniers are also sealed and lockable with a volume of 38 litres each. Up front, lockable glove boxes provide a handy place for storing small items and accessories with an iPod jack (optional connector required) located in the left side glove box.
It's available in metallic titanium with metallic diablo black.
In other news, Kawasaki has announced a partnership with Swann Insurance, which will provide Kawasaki-branded insurance products.
To celebrate the launch of the collaboration, Kawasaki will provide a complimentary tyre and rim protection policy with every purchase of a new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, Ninja ZX-10R, Z750 and Z1000 roadbike until June 30 this year.
