Kawasaki KLX250S recall notice

A fuel leakage poses the problem

Kawasaki Australia has announced the following recall notice on the KLX250S:

VIN range
KLX250T9/TA/TB - JKALXMT1#9DA00033 to JKALXMT1#BDA10589
KLX250WAF - JKALXMW1#ADA033777 to JKALXMW1#ADA03551

The # indicates this number differs from one machine to another.

What are the hazards?
Fuel leakage in the presence of a spark or flame may cause a fire or explosion, possibly resulting in injury or death.

What are the defects?
The fuel tank may leak from cracks at the spot weld(s) on the side mount tabs due to stress caused by excessive clearance between the fuel tank and the frame-mounted rubber damper.

What should consumers do?
Kawasaki will write to owners of affected vehicles.

Owners are advised to return the affected vehicles to their authorised Kawasaki dealer who will perform the necessary repairs free of charge.
