Kawasaki has joined the supermoto ranks with a motorcycle that simply implores you to have fun – the nimble KLX230SM.

Based on the dual-purpose KLX230, the learner-approved KLX230SM adds another dimension to the Kawasaki line-up with its supermoto stance, sharp styling and ultra-nimble attributes.
With its 17-inch wheels, skinny tyres, 37mm upside-down fork, generous suspension travel (204mm at the front and 168mm at the rear), 135kg wet weight and a 300mm front disc gripped by a twin-piston caliper, the KLX230SM forms the basis of an excellent commuter.
The machine also has dual-channel ABS, preload adjustment on the Uni Trak rear suspension and a smaller rear sprocket compared to the KLX230, which equates to more commuter-friendly gearing. The footpegs feature rubber inserts for added comfort.

The engine is the same tireless campaigner as found in the KLX230: a 233cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected, four-stroke single, rated at 18.7hp (14kW) and 19.8Nm but with ECU updates including a revised fuel map to offer improved throttle response in colder temperatures.
The little Kwaka has a compact LED headlight, while the blacked-out engine, frame, swingarm and handlebar dominate the styling landscape.
There are two liveries: Ebony ($7596 plus on-road costs), which has gold alumite rims, and Lime Green ($7494 plus on-road costs).
Accessories include a skid plate, frame covers, hand covers, gold alumite rims (in the Lime Green livery), helmet lock and a rear carrier. See your nearest Kawasaki dealership for more information or click here.
