Kawasaki has expanded its middleweight adventure range with the announcement of the new KLE650 for 2027, a rally-inspired adventure tourer powered by the company’s established 649cc parallel-twin.
Built for long-distance comfort, the KLE650 combines a 21-inch front wheel, 17-inch rear wheel and long-travel suspension with road-oriented ergonomics.
The new model follows the recent introduction of the KLE500, extending Kawasaki’s rally-inspired approach into the 650cc class.

The liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine is based on the 649cc unit already used across several Kawasaki models, with revised intake and exhaust systems intended to improve low-to-mid-range torque and maintain strong performance at higher engine speeds.
Electronic throttle valves are fitted, along with Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) and electronic cruise control.
A compact trellis frame forms the basis of the chassis, while spoked wheels and rally-style bodywork give the KLE650 a more adventure-focused appearance.

A higher-specification KLE650 SE will add several features over the standard model, including a quickshifter, tubeless tyres, a five-inch colour TFT instrument display and a USB-C charging outlet.
The SE also receives an aluminium handlebar, a larger aluminium skid plate, metal-reinforced hand guards and a taller, compact front cowl. The standard KLE650 is listed in Metallic Matte Graphenesteel Gray, while the SE will be offered in Pearl Storm Gray.
Kawasaki has yet to provide further details on pricing, weight, suspension specifications, fuel capacity or availability in Australia.
