Kawasaki has revived the Eliminator name, with a new learner-approved parallel-twin cruiser set to arrive on Australian shores in late 2023.
The 2024 Kawasaki Eliminator is powered by a 451cc parallel-twin engine and features a low 735mm seat height, a round retro-style headlight, and digital instruments. The bike rolls on a lightweight trellis frame which is supported by 18- and 16-inch wheels and twin-shock rear suspension.
There will also be a high-spec SE variant, which adds special colours and graphics, as well as an SE seat with two-letter pattern.
First appearing in 1985, the Eliminator name was used by Kawasaki for a number of different-sized cruisers until 2007 when it was discontinued.
Kawasaki announced a new Eliminator for Japan in 2023, utilising the same 399cc parallel-twin as the Ninja 400. However the bike has now been announced for international markets with the bigger 451cc engine and likely more power.
While pricing is yet to be announced, the new LAMS machine will compete directly with the likes of the Honda CMX 500, which checks in at $10,884 ride away and is powered by a 471cc parallel-twin.
The Japanese firm also offers the 649cc parallel-twin Vulcan S (also LAMS-approved) which checks in at $12,118 ride away. That bike will face stiff competition from the new Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, which starts at $11,990 ride away.
