Kawasaki has postponed the release of its hotly anticipated Ninja 7 Hybrid and Z7 Hybrid models in Japan due to “various circumstances”.
While the exact details for the delay were not divulged in the statement by Kawasaki Motors Japan on May 20, the company did “sincerely apologize for any inconvenience” caused to customers.
The electric hybrid models were due to be launched officially on June 15, but it now looks like curious punters will have to wait a little longer.
It is unclear if the delay in Japan will affect the release of the models in other markets, but there is currently no word on when the bikes will land Down Under.
Kawasaki Motors Australia is "still looking at getting the bikes to Australia" but confirmed it had no additional information regarding the delay.
Kawasaki has been working on a number of alternatives to traditional internal combustion for a number of years and plans to be “all-electric” by 2035. The Ninja 7 Hybrid was launched to European media in October, while the Z7 Hybrid was unveiled at EICMA in November.
The two machines use Kawasaki’s proven 451cc parallel-twin engine coupled with an electric motor. The rider has the choice to use each power source independently, or both at the same time.
A new release date for the Ninja 7 Hybrid and Z7 Hybrid is yet to be announced.
