Julio completes the loop

Exactly 338 hours after being flagged off by Lord Mayor John So, Julio Languiller rolled into Melbourne's Federation Square, having completed his 16,000km round Australia ride on a Honda Silverwing scooter.

He mounted the kerb and rode into the Square, to be greeted by about 25 well-wishers. Also present for Julio's big finish were major sponsor Honda Australia CEO Stuart Strickland and Jacinta Siracusa of Western QBE.

The Silverwing maxi scooter is a new model for Australia and seems to have survived a fairly robust endurance test with flying colours. It's powered by an injected 582cc liquid-cooled parallel twin four-stroke engine and weighs in at 227 kilos, and carries just shy of 16 litres of fuel. We're expecting the local launch to happen shortly.

Meanwhile you can read about Julio's adventures via his online diary at www.ma.org.au. (Pic: James Relph and Gerhard John)
