Jones breezes through ASBK round

Kawasaki's Mike Jones was a class above in the second round of the 2015 Australian Superbike Championship in Queensland

Kawasaki pilot Mike Jones produced a brilliant clean sweep in round two of the 2015 Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) at Morgan Park (Qld) on April 12.

In glorious sunshine, Jones comfortably won both superbike races on his ZX-10R ahead of rookie Daniel Falzon (Yamaha R1), with Chas Hern (EBR 1190RX) and New Zealander Ryan Hampton (BMW HP4) sharing the third places.

Jones now holds an 18pt — 87 to 69 -- lead in the championship over Falzon, with Hampton on 59.

“I am very happy with how the weekend went — it was pretty much perfect from the beginning to the end. I was fastest I think in every single session, got the two race wins and the overall win so it’s pretty much as good as it gets," said Jones, who came to the fore in the weaker ASBK field compared to the crack clientele in the rival Australasian Superbike Championship.

Meanwhile, Brayden Ellliot (Suzuki) won both supersport races from Troy Guenther (Kawasaki) and Chris Quinn (Yamaha).

Round three will be held at Barbagallo Raceway (WA)  from May 22-24.
