Young versus old racers in a battle of wits will be the highlight of the upcoming Hughie Hoare Memorial Fund's big night on 28 July, in Melbourne.
Now an annual event, the evening is billed as Road Racing's Night of Nights.
Current and former stars, plus race enthusiasts, get together for an auction, quiz and supper in honour of Hughie, who dedicated 50 years of his life to the sport as a competitor, organiser and track commentator.
International road racer Adam "Krusty" Fergusson will lead the young team for the quiz, while well-known trade identity and former superbike champ Mick Hone will spearhead the 'mature' team.
The funds are used to upgrade the Broadford race complex just north of Melbourne, which is owned by Motorcycling Victoria.
Organiser Su Edwards said, "It's become a monster of an event - last year we raised around $40,000, some of which we recently spent on a new medical facility.
"The complex is unique in Australia and possibly the world," she added, "As it's owned by motorcyclists rather than a corporation. We want to make sure it stays that way and its facilities are kept up to date."
Some of the highlights of the auction include a signed Valentino Rossi replica helmet from Peter Stevens Motorcycles and Casey Stoner gear from Redwing Honda.
Pre-booking is essential and the $30 tickets are available from PrestonMCC.com.au, Cosway Motorcycles and Redwing Motorcycles.
