Lawrence made a spirited pass on Forkner a minute later and then rode home to an effortless win aboard his Honda CRF250R. The win leaves him on top of the East Coast standings ahead of Forkner and Cameron McAdoo (Pro Circuit).
The young Australian was originally set to compete in the 250 West Coast series, but a pre-season injury forced him to change tack and swap with his brother and teammate Hunter, who had originally entered the East Coast series.
Hunter was sitting close behind championship leader Christian Craig for the first five rounds of the West Coast series and even nabbed victory at the Round 5 Triple Crown event in Arizona. However a crash at Anaheim 3 last weekend left him in third place; 29 points behind Craig. The West Coast series will resume on March 27 in Seattle.
Meanwhile, Kawasaki’s Jason Anderson notched his second straight 450SX win and his third for the season. The New Mexico product has closed the gap to Yamaha’s Eli Tomac, with just 3 points separating the pair. Malcolm Stewart (Husqvarna) is a further 17 points behind in third.
The next round will take place at Arlington’s AT&T Stadium on February 27.
