The Lawrence brothers from Queensland reaffirmed their status as the most exciting prospects in world motocross

Australian motocross prodigy Jett Lawrence has drawn first blood in the 2021 Pro Motocross Championship, with a skilful win in the 250 class.

While Lawrence and Martin ended the day with the same result, the Honda rider was given the win due to the second moto acting as a tiebreaker. The pair, however, will carry the same championship points into the second round.

The Aussie young gun was fresh off a win in the East-West Showdown in the final round of the AMA Supercross Championship. It was also his second Pro Motocross victory in a row, having won the final round of 2020, also at Fox Raceway.

Jett has become a phenomenon in the motocross world, not only for his natural talent and hard work ethic, but also his quirky personality which has resonated with fans on social media.

Lawrence’s older brother Hunter, also a Honda HRC rider, finished sixth overall with a 6-5 scorecard. Ahead of him was RJ Hampshire (3-9) and Michael Mosiman (4-4).

The 450 class powers into the first turn

Meanwhile, in the 450 class, Frenchman Dylan Ferrandis took the overall win on his factory Yamaha with a 1-3 scorecard. He was joined on the podium by Honda HRC’s Ken Roczen (6-1), and fellow Yamaha rider Aaron Plessinger (4-2).

Justin Barcia (GasGas) and Chase Sexton (Honda) rounded out the top 5, while big hitters Jason Anderson (Husqvarna), Marvin Musquin (KTM), Cooper Webb (KTM), Eli Tomac (Kawasaki) and Zach Osborne (Husqvarna) made up the bottom half of the top ten.

The next round of the series will take place on June 6 at Thunder Valley in Lakewood, Colorado.
