Japanese GP gets the green light

The final report is in and, subject to no further ructions, the 2011 event will go ahead as planned at Motegi on October 2
The 2011 Japanese Motorcycle Grand Prix at Motegi will take place as planned – subject to no further serious incidents – from September 30-October 2, following the release of a final report provided to the FIM and MotoGP rights holder, Dorna Sports.
ARPA, an Italian environmental protection agency, measured levels of radiation from all sources including the air, environment and food. The final conclusion is that "based on the estimate dose it can be said with no doubt that the radiation risk during the race event is negligible".
The ARPA study is intended to complement the information already available from various governments and the World Health Organisation, which addresses the general situation in Japan following the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that occurred in March. This independent investigation reports specifically on the situation in Motegi and its environs, making it much more relevant to MotoGP participants.
But will the final report be enough to allay the concerns of Australia’s Casey Stoner, who has already gone on record as saying he won’t race at Motegi? I’m sure HRC will be very interested to know…
