Jack Miller to join WorldSBK in 2027
The Australia legend's 11-year MotoGP career will come to an end as he joins Yamaha in the World Superbike ChampionshipJack Miller will join the WorldSBK championship in 2027 as his 11-year MotoGP career comes to an end.
The Queenslander will ride for the Pata Maxus Yamaha team next season after Prima Pramac Yamaha opted not to renew his MotoGP contract.
Miller joined the Moto3 championship full-time in 2011 at just 16-years-old and finished as high as second palce to Alex Marquez in the 2014 title race with six wins and ten podiums.
He was recruited straight from Moto3 into MotoGP by LCR Honda for the 2015 season before swapping to the Marc VDS Racing Team in 2016. His maiden premier-class win came that season at a rainy Assen, in what is remembered at a classic victory.
Arguably Miller’s most prominent years were with the factory Ducati team and later with the Red Bull KTM team. But despite four wins and 23 podiums, he never quite made it to the top echelon that many expected him to reach.
But the World Superbike Championship presents a new challenge for the Aussie, and he will utilise his 11 years of experience in MotoGP to help elevate the team.
“I am really excited to announce that I’m heading over to WorldSBK together with Yamaha, extending our partnership together,” said Miller.
“I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to see what we can do on the R1, and while the WorldSBK-spec bike is a bit different I am really looking forward to this next chapter in my career and hopefully we can do something really strong over there.”
