It’s not every day you get to learn from one of the best in the business, but that’s exactly what a gaggle of young KTM racers got when they attended the ‘Flat Track with Jack’ experience, hosted by Red Bull KTM MotoGP ace Jack Miller and KTM Australia.
Held on Wednesday, October 18, at Nyora Speedway in Gippsland, Victoria, Miller took time out from his busy schedule ahead of this weekend’s Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix to instruct eight junior KTM racers all eager for a leg up in their fledgling careers.

The day represented something of a homecoming for 28-year-old Miller, whose own career started out on the dirt before eventually leading him to the highest theatre of road racing on the planet.
KTM racers Jed Fyffe, Hugo Holmes, Jye French, Jake Straney, Tyge Morey, Flynn Beard, Slater Beard, and Levi Campbell all lapped up Miller’s insights on the day, along with those from Red Bull KTM Factory Racing American Flat Track (AFT) standout, Max Whale, and Australian Flat Track Nationals front-runner (and KTM rider), Billy van Eerde, who both assisting.

“Flat track for us is a really great pathway into Grand Prix racing, as that’s exactly how I started,” said Miller.
“Once upon a time I was one of these KTM juniors, so it’s special to be here now and helping out with the younger generation today. We walked around, kicked a bit of dirt with the kids, and showed them things like the key points to look for on a new track and new surface, breaking the track down into sections, focusing on corner entry and exit, before tying everything together with mid-corner speed.

“To have the likes of Billy and Max here was awesome and made for a special coaching program for the kids that we will all very much remember for a long time to come.”
Miller’s attention now shifts to Round 16 of the MotoGP Championship, to be held at Victoria’s Phillip Island circuit this weekend.
