Italian star to contest A4DE

Husqvarna factory enduro rider Alex Salvini is on his way to Australia to contest the nation's prestigious enduro event in Mackay

Italian Alex Salvini will attempt to become the first international winner since 2007 when he contests the 2011 Australian Four-Day Enduro (A4DE) in Mackay (Qld) from July 7-10.

The 25-year-old will bolster the already strong Husqvarna Racing presence for the event, which also includes his Bartosz Oblucki and Glenn Kearney. Husqvarna’s main opposition will come from KTM (Toby Price, Ben Grabham and Jarrod Bewley) and Yamaha (Stefan Merriman and Chris Hollis).

Salvini will compete in the E1 class at the A4DE and will spend several weeks in Australia prior to the event familiarizing himself with the conditions.

Before switching full-time to enduro, Salvini was a two-time runner-up in the world MX3 motocross title.

He’s currently running eighth in the 2011 E3 world enduro title, despite missing a number of rounds.
