As part of the lead-up to round five of the 2010 MotoGP championship at Silverstone in the UK, Yamaha and Ducati factory riders Jorge Lorenzo and Nicky Hayden have tried their hands at a spot of cricket.
Although there wasn't an Indian bookmaker in sight, the riders seemed to enjoy their time inside the famous Lord's cricket ground in London.
Along with Hayden and Lorenzo, a number of other 125cc and Moto2 riders took part in the cricket session.
The six MotoGP riders were "treated to a lesson in the history and finer points of the traditional English sport" according to the official press statement. It's unclear if sledging and ball tampering was explained. The history lesson probably also included former Australia PM John Howard's awesome display of bowling while playing with locals in India, which some readers may remember.
Hayden and Lorenzo batted, donning cricket whites to avoid injury. Hayden appeared to be the better batsmen (Lorenzo's helmet was wonky), smashing a few boundaries before taking tea and scones alongside Lorenzo.
Lorenzo is currently leading the championship by 25pts ahead of Dani Pedrosa (Honda), saying that he wasn't as comfortable with a cricket bat as he was on a MotoGP race bike.
"I'm confident of being able to challenge for the win now," said Lorenzo, "in Italy there was an issue with pace and the bike not stopping perfectly."
