Australia’s Daniel Milner (Yamaha) is currently locked in a pulsating battle for individual honours with Frenchman Antoine Meo (KTM) at the 2013 International Six-Day Enduro in Sardinia, which continues until October 5.
At the halfway mark, Milner, who has dominated local competition in 2013, is just over 10 seconds behind Meo, with the duo a cut above the opposition on day three – Meo winning four of the six special tests, and Milner the other two. Johnny Aubert (KTM), another Frenchman, is third outright, a further one minute and 20 seconds behind Milner.
Milner’s heroics couldn’t stop Australia’s six-man Senior Trophy team from dropping back to third on day three, with America sneaking back into second. But it remains tight, with just 18 seconds separating the protagonists. France, in turn, is nine minutes in front of America and can just about hit the cruise button for the balance of the event to guarantee that it retains the Senior Trophy.
In the Junior Trophy, Australia is sixth behind France, Italy, Britain, America and Sweden. Meanwhile, Australia is bullocking its way through the Women’s Trophy, and now leads Sweden by nearly nine minutes – with Jessica Gardiner leading the individual standings, with team-mates Jemma Wilson and Tayla Jones in third and sixth respectively.
In the men’s classes, Glenn Kearney (Husqvarna) is ninth in E1; Milner and Josh Strang (Suzuki) are first and eighth in E2; and Chris Hollis (KTM) is an excellent third in E3.
