International flavour for Aussie Supermoto finale

Italian star to try his luck against the local firebrands

One of the world's best Supermoto riders, TM's David Gozzini, will compete in the final round of the Australian title in Perth from November 28-30.

The TM-riding Italian has been in superb form all year, winning seven of the 16 races in the S2 (450cc) world title, eventually finishing second behind 22-year-old Frenchman Adrien Chareyre (Husqvarna).

Gozzini suffered a flat tyre at the final round in Greece last weekend, which gazumped any chance he had of overtaking Chareyre in the final standings.

"I am looking forward to racing in Australia, as this will be a new experience for me," said Gozzini. "I know Australian riders in all motorcycle disciplines are very skillfull, so I think it will be a hard fight for podium positions in Perth."

Gozzini will compete in the S2 class in Perth, currently being led by KTM's Angus Reekie.

Meanwhile, Gozzini's nemesis Chareyre can now look forward to testing BMW's all-new S 1000 RR four-cylinder Superbike at Albacete (Spain) in a few weeks.

BMW recently acquired the Husqvarna marque, and Chareyre is taking advantage of the family ties to try his hand on a tarmac-only circuit, instead of the hybrid tarmac/dirt supermoto layouts.
