All-new mid-sized tourer and class-leading 125cc sportsbike announced

Yamaha whipped the covers off GT version of its MT-07 Tracer at Germany’s Intermot show this week, following on from the recently launched 900cc version.

Using the same engine and frame as the firm’s base-model MT-07, the bike gets an adjustable touring-style windshield, a comfort seat as well as colour-matched 20-litre hard panniers.

Like its naked variant, it will presumably be made available in both a learner-approved and full-powered guises offering learner riders a very well equipped touring machine. In full-powered guise, the 196kg (wet) bike will be capable of a claimed 74hp (55kW) and 68Nm and will have as eat height of 835mm.

As well as the new 698cc touring machine, Yamaha announced a heavily revised YZF-R125 for the 2019 model year, which thanks to a completely new cylinder head, will boast variable valve actuation for a category first.

There’s a heavily revised Deltabox frame, a new swingarm and the addition of a slipper clutch, which will also change the game for 125cc single-cylinder sportsbikes. According to Yamaha, it will have nearly 15hp (11kW) of power, just over 12Nm of torque and tip the scales at 142kg (wet).
