A new up-spec SP model of the firm’s flagship MT-10 supernaked broke cover at Intermot overnight, alongside the first major update for the firm’s 850cc triple-cylinder MT-09.
The SP variant gains the Öhlins Electronic Racing Suspension set-up found on the firm’s YZF-R1M as well as full colour TFT instruments. There’s a unique paint scheme setting the SP version apart and, while the standard model gains an updated quickshifter, we expect this to adorn the newly announced SP version, too. As well as the new quickshifter system, improvements to the 2017 base-model MT-10 extend to throttle response thanks to revised mapping.
Intermot also played host to the next-gen MT-09 where a heavy styling update sees it bearing a closer family resemblance to its bigger MT-10 sibling.
The twin-eye LED headlight design and now 30mm shorter tail section gives the middleweight nakedbike a far more aggressive stance over the model it will replace. The conventional number plate hanger was replaced by a odd-looking arm-mounted unit bolted to the swingarm, though whether it meets Australia’s ADR compliance is yet to be seen.
In terms of internal updates, there’s now a slip-and-assist clutch, a new 41mm conventional fork which adds compression damping adjustability (in the left leg) and rebound adjustment (in the right leg), and it also gains the same one-way quickshifter system of the MT-10.
