Not that it needed it, but Kawasaki has announced its 2019 H2 sportsbike has received a 15 per cent boost in its performance, claiming a whopping 231hp peak power capability for the new model year.
Announced at this year’s Intermot show at Cologne, the hike in power is thanks to adopting many of the internal differences of its H2 SX sportstouring counterpart. Somewhat ironically, by using the SX’s ECU, spark plugs, air intake and airbox – all designed to prioritise mid-range usability over high-end performance – the groundbreaking sportsbike has found an extra 31 horses.
The 2019 H2 also gains the full-colour TFT dash of the SX, with braking improved thanks to new Brembo calipers, and would-be owners will be happy to hear the mirror-like finish now boasts self-healing properties which is said to be capable of ‘melting’ away small scratches when exposed to a moderate heat source.
As expected, Kawasaki also used the show to officially debut its two new 125cc single-cylinder machines, a naked Z125 and a faired Ninja 125, extending a model family which now ranges from 125cc singles through to 1000cc four-cylinder options.
Though with the 300cc, 400cc and 650cc versions all meeting LAMS-approved requirements, there’s been no confirmation as yet as to whether Kawasaki Australia will see the 125cc machines as a valuable addition to the Aussie market.
