KTM has used the 2018 Intermot show in Cologne to announce some updates to its 1301cc 1290 Super Duke GT which bring it in line with its flagship Super Duke R sibling. While both machines gain a small increase of 3hp, the GT gains the R’s optional up-and-down quickshifter, lean-angle sensitive ABS and traction control, and WP’s semi-active suspension complete with a choice of three switchable modes (comfort, street or sport).
As well as a new one-hand adjustable windscreen, there’s a 6.5-inch TFT dash and LED cornering lights. Speaking of lights, the GT also gains the R’s vertically split LED headlight setup.
The 2019 1290 Super Duke R will come with a choice optional packs, too, including the Track version which consists of customisable throttle response, launch control and the ability to switch off the bike’s anti-wheelie function; and the Performance one which includes the firm’s Motor Slip Regulation and the Quickshifter+ unit.
KTM also used the German show to whip the covers off a new-for-2019 450 Rally Replica. With Honda and Yamaha edging ever closer in breaking the Austrian manufacturer’s dominance at the gruelling Dakar Rally, KTM has upped the ante once again.
The 450 Rally Replica will have higher performance thanks to a revised cylinder head, improved handling thank to a completely new chassis and swingarm as well as a new rear shock. It’ll have a seat height of 980mm and weigh 145kg.
