Innovative dual disc system on trial

Beringer system promises 20% improvement

French spcialist motorcycle maker Tuscon is playing with an interesting V-twin prototype using an Aprilia V2 550 powerplant, and employing an innovative dual-disc braking system made by compatriot firm Beringer.

The Beringer system runs two semi-floating discs on each side of the front wheel, with an additional brake pad fixed between them.

Smaller diameter discs are used - 230mm - and the performance is compared to that of an equivalent 320mm disc.

Beringer also claims there is a weight advantage, although it is difficult to see how this is achieved.
