A bigger engine and better infotainment head the updates to Indian Motorcycle's 2020 touring and bagger line-up.
The air-cooled Thunder Stroke V-twin engine can now be ordered in 116 cubic inches (1.9 litres) and produces what Indian says is “class-leading” performance with 168Nm.
The new engine will be standard on most bikes, including the Springfield Dark Horse, Chieftain Dark Horse, Chieftain Limited, Chieftain Elite, Roadmaster and Roadmaster Dark Horse.
The Chief Vintage, Chief Classic Dark Horse and Springfield will continue to use the 111ci engine.
All 2020 models will also gain a redesigned version of the “Ride Command” infotainment system.
The seven-inch display remains but the hardware has been improved from the processor to the glove-touch technology.
The software has been boosts to provide predictive destination searches and customisable ride screens.
The model year updates also see the launch of the Roadmaster Dark Horse.
Descrbed as bringing “a modern and aggressive attitude to Indian Motorcycle’s premium touring motorcycle”, the updates include blacked-out finishes and a streamlined fairing and slammed saddlebags.
Indian Motorcycles says the changes reflect customer feedback.
“The majority of these new features and upgrades are a result of our consistent communication with riders, listening to their feedback and incorporating it wherever possible in our ongoing product development efforts,” Indian vice-president Reid Wilson says.
“Today’s rider wants more power and expects cutting-edge technology, all packaged in a modern look that’s tough and aggressive. That’s exactly what we’re delivering in 2020.”
