Indian Motorcycle parent company Polaris, has issued a recall on particular models in Australia.
The models affected are those with the 111 c.i. powerplant, from 2014-2019.
There are 2333 motorcycles affected, and the recall expands on a previous recall.
According to the ACCC recall notice, “the gear position switch used may provide an inaccurate signal, which can lead to an incorrect gear being displayed in the rider display.”
The ACCC notice goes on to say “incorrect gear indication during motorcycle start-up can cause unintended movement of the vehicle, increasing the risk of an accident or injury.”
Owners who believe their bike is affected by this recall should contact their authorised Indian Motorcycle Dealer immediately and schedule an appointment to have the repair performed, free of charge.
The ACC notice also recommends shifting to neutral, applying front brakes and pulling in the clutch lever prior to starting the motorcycle. This will help avoid unintended vehicle movement.
Contact the Indian Motorcycle Customer Service Department on 03 9394 5160 (Monday to Friday, 8.30am-4.30pm AEST) for questions or concerns.
