Indian Motorcycle has thrown its hat in the growing electric motorcycle revolution, adding a new battery-powered youth bike to its range.
The new Indian eFTR Mini is styled after the championship-winning FTR750 flat track machine, and could possibly hint at future electric products.

Powered by an electric powertrain and a 24-volt rechargeable battery, Indian claims the eFTR Mini can run for 30 minutes and reach speeds of 22.5km/h in ‘high’ mode and 16km/h in ‘low’ mode.
Also featured is a steel tube frame and an accessible 468mm seat height. The bike is aimed at riders from 8 to 13 years old. The battery casing also has styling that replicates a combustion engine.
Harley-Davidson, Indian’s chief competitor, released the acclaimed LiveWire in 2020 and has since formed a standalone electric motorcycle brand. It would make sense for the eFTR Mini to lead to a full-size eFTR that could potentially compete with LiveWire, however this is just speculation.
Interestingly, it’s not the first time Indian’s parent company Polaris has dabbled in electric motorcycling. Under the Victory Motorcycles brand, it released the electric Empulse TT in 2015 – around the time H-D first proposed the LiveWire. The Empulse TT was dropped soon after, and Victory itself closed its doors in 2017.
Local pricing and availability for the new Indian eFTR Mini is yet to be announced.
