The popular KTM 790 Duke will return in 2022, with the Austrian firm announcing its reintroduction to the market.
First released in 2017, the KTM 790 Duke, dubbed the ‘Scalpel’, proved to be a hit, selling over 29,000 units worldwide. It eventually made way for the more powerful KTM 890 Duke, which KTM dubbed the ‘Super Scalpel’.
Now KTM has recognised a need to bridge the gap between the LAMS-approved KTM 390 Duke and the KTM 890 Duke by reinserting the mid-range 790 Duke into its range.

The new KTM 790 Duke will be offered in Europe in a 95hp version, which will allow for A2 configuration, but the rest of the world will receive the full 105hp version.
Punching out a claimed 105hp and 87Nm, the 799cc parallel twin is claimed to be the most compact twin cylinder engine in its class. It has been tuned for torque output and for easy and rideable power.
Other features of the new 790 Duke include WP Apex suspension front and rear, MAXXIS Supermaxx ST tires, a 14.3l fuel tank, and a wide array of electronics.
The electronics package includes a full-colour 5-inch TFT display, cornering traction control, cornering ABS with a Supermoto mode, 3 standard ride modes and LED lighting. KTM also offers a number of optional features including motor slip regulation, a quickshifter, Track mode, cruise control, tire pressure monitoring and KTM My Ride connectivity.
For 2022, the KTM 790 Duke will be offered in two new colour schemes – the traditional KTM orange, and an all-new grey and black colourway.
The 2022 KTM 790 Duke is expected to hit European dealer floors from June 2022, which means Australia can likely expect a late 2022 arrival.
Local pricing is yet to be announced, but the European version starts at €8999 (approx. $13,691AUD). Australian customers can expect a higher price tag by the time it reaches our shores.
