International Entertainment Group (IEG), the firm that was recently retained by Motorcycling Australia as the promoter of the Australian Superbike Championship (click here for the full story), has announced limited details of the refreshed 2014 titles.
According to IEG, next year will see the Australian Superbike Championship held over five rounds, with the new Superbike class to be combined into the one category with just the one set of rules. Motorcycling Australia has said it will be conducting its own independent review of this aspect in coming weeks.
A minimum of two of the five rounds will incorporate a round of the Australian Supercross Championship, while ‘2+4’ events will be run independently of the championship for “as long as it is viable”.
IEG's Managing Director, Yarrive Konsky, confirmed there will be television coverage of each round and that a new production class will be introduced. He also said four of the five rounds of the 2014 Australian Superbike Championship have already been confirmed, with further details to be released in due course.
