Husqvarna updates its 701 range

The supermoto and enduro machines now have Euro 4 engines, which deliver an impressive hike in power and torque

Husqvarna Motorcycles has unveiled updated 701 Supermoto and 701 Enduro machines, fitted with the most powerful single-cylinder engine ever developed by the company.

The updated 692.7cc powerplant delivers an additional 6hp (4.5kW) and 3Nm over the previous generation. There's a four-valve cylinder head with a twin-spark ignition, and Husqvarna has added another 1000rpm of "usable power". The engine also features a second counter-balancer shaft.

The Keihin fuel injection features a new 50mm throttle body that is activated by ride-by-wire electronics. Both machines also have Bosch anti-lock braking.

The 701 Supermoto has 17-inch tyres on black anodised wheels while, staying true to its Swedish heritage, Husqvarna have given the new 701 Enduro a fresh look, with a white, blue and yellow colour scheme. The 710 Enduro has 21- and 18-inch rubber.

Both machines will be on display at the 2016 Intermot show in Cologne from October 5-9.
