Husqvarna Australia has showcased a modified FE 250 enduro model designed especially for female and beginner riders.
Dubbed the Husqvarna FE 250 LoLo, the bike features a lowered seat height that helps make riding easier for female riders, beginners, and those who are shorter in stature.
The lower seat height is achieved by simply adding two options available in the Husqvarna Genuine Accessories catalogue. These accessories are the Low Seat option ($225 RRP), which takes 15mm off the original seat height, and the Lowering Kit option ($320 RRP), which subtracts a further 20mm.
In total, the modifications reduce the standard seat height by 35mm, resulting in an FE 250 with a very accessible seat height of 915mm.
Customers can purchase the optional accessories themselves or have an authorised Husqvarna dealer fit them on the showroom floor. The modifications add just $545 to the standard ride away for a grand total of $17,334 ride away.
Most enduro and motocross models have bigger seat heights compared to the rest of the motorcycle industry. In the 250cc enduro class, seat heights range from 940mm to 960mm.
The standard height of the FE 250 is 950mm, which is already 10mm lower than its KTM counterpart and 5mm lower than the Yamaha WR250F. With the LoLo modifications, the FE 250 is transformed into one of the lowest adult-size dirt bikes on the market.
Of course, the Lowering Kit does reduce ground clearance, but according to Husqvarna the standard ground clearance of 360mm is already class-leading, meaning the drop of 20mm still leaves it ahead of much of its competition.
Husqvarna Australia showed the benefits of the FE 250 LoLo in a promotional video featuring KTM Group marketing gurus, Rosie Lalonde and Fiona Iorfino, as well as multi-time Australian champion and Husky-sponsored rider Jemma Wilson.
With a full scope of abilities between the three riders, the video touched on the ease-of-use generated by the significantly lowered seat height. “Honestly, it was one of the best days of riding I have had as a beginner,” said Iorfino. “I felt so comfortable and so confident.”
And while beginner riders will certainly benefit from the modifications, intermediate and advanced riders can find positives in the changes too. “I’ve ridden for a number of years, but when a bike is set up correctly, and the suspension is softer as well, it is a lot easier for me in the technical sections,” added Lalonde.
Wilson, a former Australian champion, also praised the FE 250 LoLo. “I am that person that pulls up and falls over every time,” she said. “But with LoLo, I don’t do it. I never lowered my bike when I was racing because I thought it would ruin my clearance, but the standard Husky has a higher clearance to begin with, so you have a bit of extra room to play with.”
