Husqvarna taking to the tarmac
A new street-based single to be released at the EICMA show in Milan, as well as the two concept modelsNow that it’s new range of motocross and enduro bikes have been released, could Husqvarna be about to come good on the 701 supermoto-based prototype it unveiled at the 2013 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan?
The 701 is a big single-cylinder, 690cc, the same engine configuration that Husqvarna says will power a production model it will reveal at the 2014 EICMA show, starting on November 4. It will mark Husqvarna’s return to the street segment.
Husqvarna says the new machine will “offer premium characteristics while maintaining the Swedish tendency towards functional design”. That sort of falls in line with what Husqvarna said about the 701, where the surfaces of the bodywork are “understated, focusing on simplicity”, setting the “tone for future Husqvarnas”.
The 701 produces 75hp, and all the power is harnessed within a lightweight Chromoly steel trellis frame and suspended by the latest WP fork and shock technology. It has the latest Brembo radial brakes.
Meanwhile, as well as the new production model, Husqvarna has two concepts yup its sleeve for EICMA, showcasing lightweight construction and functionality, premium quality hardware and “uncompromised design”.
