Husqvarna's 100 world championships

125cc junior motocross title marks a ton of victories for the brand

Husqvarna has taken just 59 years to secure 100 world championship titles.

The feat includes 58 rider and 42 manufacturer accolades, starting in 1960 when Swedish racer Bill Nilsson claimed the 500cc motocross world championship.

Mattia Guadagnini’s victory in last month’s junior world motocross championship notched up Husky’s 100 title win.

The decades between have seen the world’s top enduro riders secure titles aboard Husqvarna machines.

Among the notables are Torsten Hallman, who scored four FIM 250cc motocross world championships, Czech rider Otakar Kotraba who delivered Husqvarna’s first ‘woods’ success with the 1990 FIM 400cc enduro world championship title in 1990 and Swedish star Anders Eriksson who won six titles.

2006 was a standout year for the brand with no less than six world title trophies being added to the display cabinet.

The racing success has translated into sales, with the brand achieving year-on-year growth since 2014.

Husky says the motorsport focus will “continue to be one of the driving factors in the development of the brand’s class-leading production motorcycles”.
