Horsepower versus pedal power

At St. Kilda festival this weekend

The annual St. Kilda Festival in Melbourne will be held this weekend (February 13-14), and those attending the event on Sunday will be able to witness a two-wheeled face-off between horsepower and pedal power.

Professional motorcycle stunt rider Lukey Luke will be piloting a 2010 Triumph Street Triple R to it limits against five-time Australian flat land BMX champion Trevor King.

Luke is the official stunt rider for the Australian Superbike Championship, and also regularly performs in shows and events nationally and overseas. He is one the very few people in Australia performing circle wheelies.

"I basically have to balance on the back wheel only with the front wheel high in the air. At the same time I ride in a very tight circle, gaining quite a bit of speed," said Luke.

"The course at this year's St. Kilda Festival will be especially tight and technical with awesome viewing for spectators."

The "Stunt-Off" will be performed every couple of hours on Sunday, on a circuit next to the Palais Theatre.
