German motorcycle maker Horex has not been sitting still since it launched the VR6 naked bike at the Cologne motorcycle show, this new video showing that testing is well and truly underway.
Horex has released a short 20-second video of the engine being tested on a dyno, and it's fair to say the V6 generates a unique sound (is there a supercharged whine in the background?) and will be offered in two guises, one naturally aspirated and the other supercharged.
One of the interesting aspects of the 1200cc V6 engine is its compactness; almost as narrow as an inline engine configuration due to a combination of its 15-degree vee angle and the fact that it doesn't have two cylinder banks, but rather a single block. This has allowed Horex to set the pistons closer together than a typical V6 and the result is a handy 175hp (129kW) in naturally aspirated form and relatively compact dimensions.
The supercharged version develops 200hp (147kW) at 8500rpm and with a 150Nm side serve of torque for good measure, it's not going to be a shy motorcycle.
Both models will be hooked up via six-speed manual transmissions, with drive to the rear via belt rather than chain. As previously reported Horex will offer a naked bike initially, but is also believed to be working on a second model.
Horex stated that it will sell the unique VR6 motorcycle in Germany, Austria and Switzerland initially, for a price of around €20,000 ($28,000).
