Honda VTX1800

The release of the VTX promised a lot and got plenty of trumpeting

Honda reliability, Arlen Ness-like styling with serious horsepower - stuff like that. Oh and those monster pots adding up to the 1800 designation.

The styling is sensational and the finish very good. Tall riders will love the seating position.

Performance in stock Oz form is okay but nothing special. The gearshift is clumsy - particularly on the first-to-second change. Steering and brakes are friendly, if slow, while cornering clearance is woeful.

I've ridden many good Honda cruisers (and own a Valkyrie variant), but this isn't one of them. And since I've mentioned the Valk, it's $1000 less in 2002 form - which makes it far better buying.
