Honda Australia has launched the VT1300CR, a retro-styled cruiser aimed at stealing a small part of the Harley-Davidson pie. Priced at $19,990 before government and delivery charges, the 1312cc V-twin powered machine is a "motorcycle that grabs attention and won't let go" according to its creators.
The American-styled cruiser is all about image, much like its cousin the Fury (but not quite as out-there), and the big V-twin engine which makes use of three-valve cylinder heads, dual spark plugs per cylinder and Honda's programmed fuel injection (PGM-FI), is claimed to deliver "crisp throttle response." Meanwhile a broad spread of power and torque is the kind "that makes riding a big cruiser so much fun".
Honda also earns a few brownie points with the addition of Combined ABS on the VT1300CR, which is offered in black and candy dark red colour schemes.
The design of the Japanese motorcycle will be the topic of most conversation, with "deeply valanced fenders that arc downward in classic retro style," according to Honda. The company claims the all-new rolling chassis and sleek lines will bring a fresh look to the class, but it could be argued that it's all in the eye of the beholder; some will love the look, others may not.
The pulled-back handlebar design should attract attention and contrasting blacked-out/chromed-up engine and exhaust elements add a touch of class. The contoured seat looks fairly comfortable too.
Numerous accessories will be offered to deliver a more customised look, including a chrome rear carrier, low and tall backrests, a Boulevard screen, passenger floorboards, rider footpegs, braided cables, saddlebags, chrome guards and covers, leather bags and plenty more besides.
The new Honda VT1300CR is available now, priced from $19,990 before government and delivery charges are added. Check out Honda Motorcycles.com.au for more details.
