Honda will have a strong motorcycle showing at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show, which kicks off on October 24th, with a number of firsts.
One of the most keenly anticipated models will be the Honda VFR1200F sport tourer, which will be packaged with the world's first dual-clutch transmission for a large-displacement sportbike.
The dual-clutch gearbox in the VFR1200F has three operating modes (auto, auto sport and manual) that Honda claims will improve fuel efficiency. The new double clutch transmission is expected to be rolled out across the Honda sports bike range over the next few years.
Another world premiere will be the CB1100 Customize Concept which "explores the potential of the air-cooled, 4-cylinder engine while building upon the aesthetic appeal and riding taste of the generations of CBs" says Honda.
If it's anything like the CB1100R concept seen at the 2007 Tokyo motor show (pictured), it could generate a lot of buzz for the company.
The Japanese giant will also exhibit a couple of concepts bikes.
The PCX is an eco-friendly scooter with an idle stop function that will help to deliver "outstanding fuel economy" and could be a global production model if interest at the show is strong.
Another environmentally friendly concept is the EVE-neo, and electric scooter that "achieves clean and tough performance". The intriguing U3-X mobility device will also delight (and possibly confuse) show goers.
