Following fresh media coverage on beleaguered Japanese parts manufacturer Takata, which has been at the centre of a global recall affecting millions of defective airbag inflators used by 19 automotive, motorcycle and truck manufacturers, Honda Australia has issued another plea for affected Gold Wing customers to contact them.
In July 2016, Honda Australia received official notification of an airbag recall for all 2008, 2009, 2010 and subsequently 2012 Honda Gold Wing GL1800 models in the wake of the global Takata inflator issue.
Customers who purchased these models were immediately contacted with information on replacement measures.
A total of 522 Goldwing units that have been affected in Australia, and 163 of these have been successfully repaired and fitted with new inflators.
Honda is now remaining customers – who may be second or third owners of an affected Gold Wing -- to get in touch to ensure their unit is rectified.
