Honda's tri-colour VT750RS

Showing off the classic tri-colour paint scheme, Honda has given its VT750RS a tasteful classic look

The Honda VT750S has already proved itself as an affordable casual cruiser with a touch of personality, but now Honda has added a lot more street cred.

Meet the Honda VT750RS, which is pretty much exactly the same as the S, but gains a fresh lick of paint. But not just any old paint...

While the standard VT750S models can be ordered in grey metallic or white colours, the 2011 model RS boasts the classic Honda tri-colour scheme of white red and blue – complete with the Honda wing emblem.

As a rival to the Triumph Bonneville and, to a lesser extent the Harley-Davidson Sportster 883, the new look improves the VT750RS visual appeal as it cleverly plays on Honda heritage, instead of just matching its rivals' nondescript colour schemes like-for-like.

As cafe racers and cruisers are proving increasingly popular among casual buyers, the new look VT750RS could win over new customers who are increasingly looking for a piece of machinery that tips the hat to the style of the '70s and '80s.

Power for the 2011 Honda Shadow VT750RS comes from the same donk as previous models, a six-valve liquid-cooled 745cc V-twin that churns out 42hp (31kW) at 5500rpm and 62Nm at 3250rpm.

At this stage it is unclear whether Honda will offer the new colour in Australia.
