Honda's back in the road racing game

Has announced a reunion with Motologic, a partnership which won five national road racing titles in the noughties

Honda and Melbourne-based tuning house Motologic have announced their reunion for an assault on the 2011 Australian Superbike Championship (ASC).

One of the most successful collaborations in Australian Superbike history, the partnership netted five national road racing titles between 2004 and 2008, including the magical Superbike and Supersport double in 2004 and 2005.

However, the partnership dissolved at the end of 2009 when Honda decided to divert its marketing spend elsewhere, with Motologic immediately finding a suitor in Ducati.

But that alliance is now over, with Motologic returning to familiar surroundings – starting this weekend when it will be fielding Glenn Allerton and Jamie Stauffer on a CBR1000RR in the Australian Endurance Championship six-hour at Phillip Island.

“Simply put, I'm happy to be back with Honda; it's very familiar territory, and we’ll be working with an extremely strong motorcycle,” said the principal of Motologic, Paul Free.

With much of next season’s preparation already underway, there is only one remaining piece of the puzzle still to be finalised -- the rider line-up, which is expected to be announced soon. Stauffer, who rode the Motologic Ducati in 2010, is expected to be one of the riders.

The 2011 ASC calendar is yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, Motologic is now selling the Ducati 1198Rs Stauffer and team-mate Jordan Burgess raced in 2010, at $47,000 a pop. There’s also a 1198S which Motologic used for two-seater activities, which is selling for $27,000.
