
It was a close-run thing, though, with Suzuki rider Shawn Giles equalling Brookes on points and only having to relinquish the superbike title after a countback of the year's results.
"I knew I could do it (win the superbike title and the double)," Brookes said.
"I've known since I was a kid that I could do it.
"It was just a matter of the right year.
"It was going to happen last year but didn't (because of the broken pelvis)."
