Honda has unveiled its CRF450 Rally model at the Intermot motorcycle fair in Cologne, Germany, which will compete in the 2013 Dakar Rally.
The fuel-injected CRF450 Rally is based on Honda’s CRF450X, which has just won this year’s Australasian Safari. Eleven-time Baja 1000 champion Johnny Campbell (USA) will join the four riders already announced to compete at Dakar: Helder Rodrigues (Portugal), Felipe Zanol (Brazil), Sam Sunderland (United Kingdom) and Javier Pizzolito (Argentina).
Honda competed nine times in the Dakar Rally, starting in 1981. Cyril Neveu (France) rode Honda to its first victory in 1982, and from 1986-1989 Honda won four consecutive titles.
The CRF450 Rally model will compete for the first time at the Morocco Rally from October 14. The five riders set to compete in the Dakar Rally will ride in Morocco.
Honda also announced the following at Intermot:
The NSC50R is a new 50cc scooter, complete with combined braking. The machine is available in Pearl White, Grey Metallic and a Repsol colour scheme.
