Honda MotoKids to be launched at Barrabool

Organised drills and lots of fun for kids under 16

A brand new Honda Motorcycles-backed initiative for junior funbike riders will be launched at Barrabool (Vic) this Sunday, February 28.

Called 'MotoKids', the program aims to combine enjoyment and learning for junior funbike riders, with coaching drills and controlled games/activities both part of the timetable.

Honda will combine with Lee Hogan's Building Champions Program to launch MotoKids.

"There is so much focus put on riding schools and ride days for racers out there, but barely anything for these kids on their little funbikes," said Hogan. "But we can't expect these little tackers to sit there and pay attention to coaching drills all day.

"With MotoKids, we'll be combining equal amounts of free riding, coaching and games staggered throughout the day to keep their attention, maximize learning and make sure they leave with a big smile on their face."

Glyn Griffiths, the National Marketing Manager for Honda Motorcycles, is thrilled with the new initiative.

"It's such an important area for Honda and motorcycling to get these kids on board at an early age and develop good and safe riding techniques in a controlled and fun environment," said Griffiths.

The ride days will ran under Motorcycling Australia's insurance umbrella and have accredited coaches and first-aid on hand to ensure a safe and well controlled environment for the kids.

The MotoKids events will be one-day affairs, and conducted at selected tracks all over Australia. This Sunday at Barrabool, sign-on starts at 8.00am and riding is betwen 9.00am-4.00pm.

KIds are 16 are all welcome, and the entry fee is $50. Riders can bring their own funbike (no motocross racebikes allowed) or try out one of Honda's. Prior entry for events is essential, which you can do through the official MotoKids website.

Junior Fox gear, including helmets, boots, goggles, gloves, pants and jerseys will be available for loan, with showbags presented to riders at the end of the day.
