Meet Honda’s newest commuter for the Indian market – the Dream Yuga. The bike, which will go on sale May 15, 2012, will join models such as the Stunner, Twister, Unicorn Dazzler, Shine and Aviator in Honda’s two-wheel range.
And the “Dream” name continues a lineage which was stated with Honda founder Soichiro Honda way back in 1949 – his vision for affordable personal transportation for the masses. A theme which India is taking in its stride.
The Dream Yuga is entering the red-hot 100cc commuter market, but across three different specs to offer maximum appeal to the prospective buyer. The base model offers kick start, spoked wheels and drum brakes, and works its way up to electric start, disc brakes and alloy wheels.
Other features include tubeless tyres and a maintenance-free battery.
The engine is an 110cc air-cooed four-stroke, producing 9hp at 800rpm and 6Nm at 6000rpm. The gearbox is five-speed.
In 2011, Honda pulled out of a joint venture with Hero Corp, and they have now gone their separate ways – except for a few remaining technical bits and pieces.
