Honda ‘downsizes' with MSX125

Honda's new MSX125 breathes new life into the marque's iconic Monkey bike theme, but it doesn't look like we'll be seeing this one in Australia
Honda has revealed first details of a compact new model it says continues the traditions of the Monkey, Dax and Ape. Named the MSX125 (the ‘MSX’ referring to ‘Mini Street X-treme’), the bike features small wheels and dimensions but plenty of full-size components, effectively bridging the gap between a mini bike and a fully fledged motorcycle.
The model is produced in Honda’s Thai manufacturing facility and is powered by a fuel-injected 125cc four-stroke engine, the latter mated to a motorcycle-style four-speed gearbox and clutch.
Wrapped around the engine is a steel frame, the bike riding on an inverted front fork and rear monoshock. Hydraulic disc brakes front and rear handle stopping duties, while the diminutive 12-inch wheels are fitted with wide but low-profile tyres.
The model won't be reaching our shores, but the MSX125 is set to go on sale in the UK around April, 2013 in yellow, red or white.
