Honda has pulled the covers from its new 2023 Honda ST125 Dax, with the fresh and feisty little minibike model marking its return to Honda’s European line-up of models after an absence of 41 years.
But while the new model will go on sale in Europe alongside siblings like the Honda Monkey and Honda MSX125 Grom, sadly the new model isn’t earmarked for Australia, due primarily to its lack of an ABS system.
That’s a pity, because these small capacity and uniquely styled machines have something of a cult following, serving as cheap and cheerful transport as much as they're a nostalgic window to the ‘60s and ‘70s, when these bikes first rose to prominence.

Named after the Daschund dog courtesy of its short legs and long body, the original ST50 Dax of 1969 is however a very different machine to the 2023 Honda ST125 Dax, the latter with Euro 5 compliant, 124cc single-cylinder engine, full LED lighting, and compact negative LCD instrumentation.
Featuring a T-shaped pressed-steel frame that is said to provide “ample strength for two-up riding”, the new Dax rides on 12in black rims shod with chunky balloon tyres, a 31mm fork, and twin rear shocks.
Power is sent to the rear via a centrifugal clutch and a four-speed gearbox, while the 2023 Honda ST125 Dax will go on sale in Europe in two colour schemes: Pearl Nebula Red and Pearl Cadet Grey.
