Honda CB836 custom
This Japanese custom motorcycle takes a softly-softly approach to design, and it works a treatNot a week goes by without some form of custom motorcycle (or drum kit) catching our eye, but as this creation from Japan shows, sometimes subtlety can be just as effective as in-your-face boldness.
The Nippon-based tuning company House Rockers has taken the legendary Honda CB750 and made a number of modifications to enhance dynamics, performance, and of course image.
The Honda powerplant now displaces 836cc, thanks to the fitment of larger Wiseco pistons, while new Yoshimura carbies have been added. Together with a forged race crankshaft and cam, this is one Honda CB that won't be left behind at the traffic lights.
And then there's the lovingly bent custom stainless steel exhaust system to help the engine breath more deeply.
House Rockers also saw fit to reinforce the frame, while several of the bike's older steel components (including the fuel tank) upgraded to aluminium to reduce weight.
Chassis tweaks include upgraded Kayaba forks, Ohlins shockers at the rear to improve handling, and the wheels are now magnesium alloy jobbies borrowed from an NSR 250, which reduce unsprung weight. Brembo front brakes are also part of the package.
It's a subtle custom, with smaller touches including carbon front and rear fenders, but it works. And as they say, you can't put a price on beauty. But for the record this one costs around $43,000...
