Honda’s entry-level CB125R has gained a full-colour five-inch TFT dash as part of a 2024 model year refresh, and it’s a model Honda Australia now says is “under consideration” to join the line-up Down Under.
Not to be confused with the firm’s $2999 (plus on-road costs) CB125F, if imported the ‘neo-sport’ naked bike will sit alongside the similarly styled Honda CB300R and CB650R. And while there was a CB1000R in the Aussie line-up as recently as 2022, it’s set to be replaced by the CB1000 Hornet that was unveiled at the last EICMA Motorcycle Expo.
Incidentally, Honda says the CB125R’s new TFT dash is the same unit used on the CB1000R.
The model’s recent changes represent the second update the CB125R has benefitted from since it was introduced in 2017; it received an updated four-valve engine and Showa’s 41mm Separate Function Big Piston upside-down fork in 2021.
The fuel-injected 125cc single has a bore and stroke of 57.3mm x 48.4mm, producing a claimed output of 15hp (11kW) at 10,000rpm and 11.6Nm of torque at 8000rpm.
In terms of other numbers, the CB125R tips the scales at just 130kg ready to ride, has a relatively short 1345mm wheelbase and an accessible 816mm seat height.
As well as achieving compliance for the tightening emission regulations that come into effect in Europe this year, the 125cc single-cylinder naked will also be available in four new colours: Matt Cynos Gray Metallic, Pearl Cool White, Reef Sea Blue, and Pearl Splendor Red.
