Honda CB1100F coming to Oz

Retro-styled CB on the way, powered by a big 1140cc DOHC four-banger

It's been a long time coming, first appearing as a concept at the 2007 Tokyo motor show, but the Honda CB1100F has finally gone on sale in Japan.

And the good news is that Honda Australia has confirmed it will bring the retro-styled motorcycle to Australia this year.

Honda's General Manager of motorcycles, Tony Hinton, told the Bikesales Network the new CB1100F model has an ultra-high quality level of finish, much like the recently launched VFR1200. "Any motorcycles made for the Japanese market have to be of a high quality, and the CB1100F is no different," explained Hinton.

Arriving in Australia in June this year in limited numbers, Hinton says he expects the CB1100F to be a low volume model and though we poked and prodded, Honda was keeping mum on local pricing.

Power for the classically styled Honda comes from an 1140cc inline four-cylinder engine with dual overhead cams, outputting roughly 87hp (64kW). Kerb weight will be around 245kg and it'll be packed with plenty of new technology. ABS is an option on Japanese models, and is likely to make the journey to Australia.

The front suspension comprises 41mm standard forks while the rear-end is suspended with a pair of preload-adjustable Showa dampers. We've also included a video of the new Honda, which is accompanied with some decent footage of the bike (pity the same can't be said for the music).

Stay tuned for pricing and full specification closer to the CB1100F's local launch in June.
