A starting price of $7999 plus on-roads marks the launch of Honda’s 2019 CB500X adventure tourer.
The mid-sized, parallel-twin-cylinder CB500X remains one of the most manoeuvrable, rider-friendly, easy-to-own motorcycles on the road and exciting performance updates encourage a greater sense of adventure without compromising any of its city manners.
A more upright riding position and a 19-inch front wheel improve bump absorption off the road, aided by greater front and rear suspension travel and improved ground clearance.
Honda says the 471cc parallel-twin engine has a revamped intake tract, new fuel-injection nozzles, more accurate cam timing and a more precise crank sensor to boost torque in the 3000-7000rpm range. While they were at it, the Honda engineers also tuned the exhaust for a sportier note.
Power is tuned for strong low-end and precise throttle control, which Honda says better suits the needs of CB500X riders. A new slipper clutch smooths downshifts and the lever pull is 45 per cent lighter.
ABS settings have been optimized for the bike dual-purpose remit and the new LCD display now has shift-up indicators.
The steering angle has been adjusted to “improve high-speed cruising yet also allow a tighter turning radius, adding more versatility to the types of riding it is ideal for _ the daily commute, the weekend getaway or the off the beaten track adventure ride”.
